Hello everyone!

Welcome to our newly revised website. It’s been long time coming, but we hope it’s been worth the wait.

I want to let you in on some very important things that are happening within the local Democratic Party. Of course, I realize that many of you are reluctant to even think about political stuff right now. But, just in case you are still reading, here are a few things that I’m hoping will persuade you to think about joining the fight for equity and justice.

We now have a Southwest Region CD3 Organizer. He has helped us develop a plan of action which includes community outreach, fundraising and voter registration among many other things. If you are at all interested in working for the party, please let me know. We will be doing voter registration updating (and also signing up new voters) at the county fair. Drop by our booth to get the latest on what’s happening. There are so many ways you can get us closer to our goals that it’s too long a list to type them all in here. By the way, the Fair starts on Aug 5 and ends on Aug 8. So, lots of time to come see us there. Let me know if you would like a copy of our goals and goal deadlines; I will see that you get one. I hesitate to list all that in detail, because I’m not sure who will read this – don’t want to give too much away.

As far as fundraising goes, the Central Committee members and I want to have a party headquarters starting no later than July of next year. I feel it’s important to emphasize to Archuleta Countians that yes, we do have a Democratic Party here, yes, we are actively working to get Democrats elected, and yes, we have made inroads in getting more and more folks to vote BLUE than ever before. Some of those voters are Unaffiliateds and even some Republicans. We are sincerely indebted to those who carefully considered their votes in 2020. We thank them for making their voting decisions with the good of our community, our state, and our country over and above party affiliation. True patriots!

Rest assured that we are working very hard to get reputable, respected, and honest candidates elected. Try out the words I found at the bottom of an email a few days ago. “I pledge to work as hard and long as I can every day to make this a better world.” Say it when you wake up in the morning and before going to sleep at night. Trust me, it can make a difference in your days.

Number one, and to my mind, this absolutely has to be number 1, the organized effort we need to make our planet livable for the foreseeable future.

PS More coming next week. And feel free to send me what’s on your mind. I’d love to hear it.
