Boebert Opposes Ukraine

Even as more Russian atrocities against the people of Ukraine are documented by neutral observers, U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Silt, continues her radical support for Russia.

“Russian State Media Picks Up Lauren Boebert's Claims Ukraine Aid Is 'Scam',” Newsweek reports on August 8. Boebert’s baseless claim was gleefully picked up by Russia Today and the Russian propaganda ministry TASS even as the  authors of the report she cited disavowed her interpretation of their work.

On August 20 Boebert wrote on Twitter, “Biden sent $775 million more to Ukraine yesterday. This is basically a weekly phenomenon. He's spending our taxpayer dollars on a fight that is not ours and doing so without any limit. Why are we allowing this?”

The majority of the 435 Democrats and Republicans in Congress support Ukraine’s fight against the Russian invasion.

Not Boebert. She joins a small fringe group of Republicans who support Russian appeasement.

She was one of 17 to vote against the Suspending Energy Imports from Russia Act. One of 8 to vote against the Suspending Normal Trade Relations with Russia and Belarus Act. One of 17 to not support Moldova’s independence from Russia. One of 18 to oppose Finland’s and Sweden’s admission to NATO.

Compare Boebert’s hard-heartedness to the kindness and generosity of the Pagosa Springs Rotary Club’s $25,000 donation for Ukrainian refugees. Are Rotary donors aware that Boebert votes to support Russia every chance she gets?

Most awkwardly, the Archuleta County Republican Party heartily campaigns for Boebert’s re-election even though she is a Russian supporter and votes against the people of Ukraine. Do the Republicans of Archuleta County want to be known as Russian appeasers? Silence is compliance.

The reaction of Boebert’s supporters is predictable. They will tell you to ignore her words and deeds. They will claim that Boebert, a former restaurateur, has divine, secret knowledge unknowable to Senate Republicans and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

Boebert’s votes in Congress are ours. She wastes our votes. Don’t waste yours in November by keeping her in office.

Vote for Adam Frisch. He supports freedom everywhere, including Ukraine.

Boebert Brags About Funding Projects She Voted Against

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Silt, continued her assault on truth with a March 22 email claiming to have secured funding for several projects in CD3. Absent from her bragging was the fact that she voted against funding those projects.

Boebert has one job to do, and that is to vote on behalf of the people of the Western Slope and Southern Colorado. Our vote, via Boebert, was to not appropriate the money she claims as “Boebert Wins.” That’s like claiming credit for the sun coming up because you like sunshine, as one friend put it.

The “wins” she claimed were part of HR 2471 the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022. The Act passed with substantial bipartisan support 260-171. Boebert was one of the Nays.

Among the “wins” Boebert voted against were funding for the Southern Ute Tribe’s irrigation work; compensation to farmers for livestock killed by wolves; funding for rural community health centers; millions for bark beetle remediation; and exempting livestock haulers from electronic logging devices.

In the same newsletter, Boebert also continued her attack on the greater sage-grouse for the benefit of her oil company contributors. The bird lives in sagebrush country the oil companies covet for drilling, pipelines, and road construction.

As a reminder, Boebert is a legislative dud. She introduces bills that read like press releases from her donors and claims that is working for her constituents. None of her bills have ever come to a vote.

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Stilt, continues her pro-Russian campaign by being one of 17 representatives to vote against  H. R. 6968, the Suspending Energy Imports from Russia Act. The vote was 414-17. The first-term Congresswoman who represents Archuleta County didn't even bother to show up. She had Ted Budd, R-NC13, cast her vote by proxy. This was the eighth time she voted by proxy.

Why did she miss a vote she has been noisily campaigning about? Who knows. House rules state that proxy votes must be accompanied by "separate exact instruction with respect to each vote." Boebert, who cares little for following rules or the law, did not provide that.

Ironically, one of the fringe 17 was a favorite target of Boebert's, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. Since Omar does her job and shows up for roll call votes (she hasn't voted by proxy) maybe next time Boebert can ask Omar to stand in for her.

Boebert also maintains her silence for her Ukrainian-hating buddy, Madison Cawthorn, R-NC. And of course, she continues to cozy up to Putin-lover and Former President Trump. In the MSNBC video, Boebert voter-by-proxy Budd delivers his Putin creds.
