Donations are the lifeblood of the Archuleta County Democratic Party. Without funding, we are unable to promote progressive ideas within our community and elect liberal candidates. Much can be accomplished at minimal cost through the efforts of our great volunteers. But some activities do require money to implement. So, you might ask, where do my donations go? Well, here are a few examples:

  • Campaign Headquarters: Our biggest expense during election years is rental of a campaign office. Because of COVID, we did not open a campaign office in 2020. However, although there is no Presidential election, 2022 has many critical races. Senator Michael Bennet is up for reelection, with the balance of power in the US Senate hanging in the balance. We must make sure that our dreadful Representative Lauren Boebert has only one term in office. All statewide races, from Governor on down, as well as state senate and representative will be up for grabs. Finally, there are county and town offices to be filled. Because of this, we would like to have a Campaign Headquarters from June through election day. Rent will probably be $1,000 or more monthly.
  • Mailings: In 2020 we sent postcards to left-leaning Unaffiliateds, inactive Dems, young Dems, and others, incurring printing and postage costs.
  • Venue rental: We will want to have a booth at the Archuleta County Fair. In addition, we will need venues for caucuses, the county assembly, town halls, and Get-Out-The-Vote activities.
  • Training: We will need to pay for training of local candidates, organizers and campaign volunteers.
  • Campaign contributions: We occasionally contribute directly to County and state candidates approved by the County Central Committee.

Pagosa Skyrocket Club

To reward our most generous donors, the Archuleta County Democratic Party has established the Pagosa Skyrocket Club. For those of you who may not know, the Pagosa Skyrocket is a rare flower found only in areas around Pagosa Springs, mainly Reservoir Hill and south on U’S. 84. It is listed as  Endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The plant varies from 12 to 24 inches tall with bright clumps of tiny white and pink flowers on the stalks.  So, the Skyrocket is a fitting symbol of the beautiful and unique environment of our county and the importance of the ESA.

Becoming a member of the Club is easy. Just pledge to donate at least $5 monthly to the ACDP for at least 12 months. Alternatively, you can make a one-time $60 or more donation to the party. This can be accomplished using the Act Blue button above or by a direct payment. Club members will receive a limited edition pin depicting the flower, shown above.

Please consider joining the distinguished group of Democrats who are members of the Pagosa Skyrocket Club.

Make a Directed Donation

See something you would like to help ACDP with but maybe you're short on time or know-how to volunteer?  Instead, consider a directed donation to help put your money where your interests are!

Directed donations are something you work with the Officers of the ACDP Executive Committee to accomplish. We are excited to hear what you would like to help us with! Some examples of directed donations might be anything from paper or snacks, all the way up to rental of a Campaign Headquarters or new laptops or tablets for GOTV and voter outreach activities.  You decide what you want your money to accomplish, and we will be glad to make it happen!
