RELEASE: Colorado Democratic Party State Central Committee Votes on Ceasefire Resolution

DENVER - Tonight, the Colorado Democratic Party voted to reject a ceasefire resolution brought forward by members of the State Central Committee.

 Preliminary numbers:

  • Approve: 40.4%
  • Reject: 55.1%
  • Abstain 4.5%

"I am incredibly proud of the Colorado Democratic Party for being open to challenging conversations, and I know that we are emerging stronger and more unified as a result of this evening,” said CDP Chair Shad Murib. “The Israel-Hamas War has brought on difficult and important discussions for Coloradans, and I have no doubt they will continue.”

“One thing is clear: Donald Trump will make the suffering faced by Israelis and Palestinians in this war even worse. President Biden and Vice President Harris are working night and day to find a pathway to peace, and they have our support in this effort. Too many innocent people have been killed, and the violence must end.”

The Colorado Democratic Party will continue to work with our Israeli, Palestinian, Jewish, and Muslim communities to make sure their voices are heard, reflected, and amplified.

The State Central Committee also eliminated the position of Vice Chair of Public Relations & Marketing.

 Preliminary numbers:

  • Yes 76.0%
  • No 18.1%
  • Abstain 5.9%
