Rep. Jeff Hurd, who represents us here in Colorado's Third Congressional District, had this to say about President Trump's speech before Congress on March 4:
"It was an amazing and historic experience. I was happy to be there representing the people of the 3rd Congressional District and hearing the president outline the things that we campaigned on — securing the border, growing our energy economy, increasing prosperity for families throughout the 3rd Congressional District. I am excited to deliver on that agenda this next Congress. As the president said, America is back."
Interesting that Rep. Hurd did not mention DOGE, gutting Medicaid, cutting fire mitigation, and neglectiing to protect our public lands. Of course, those Trump policies are unpopular among his constituents.
Rep. Hurd is trying to have it both ways: He's broadcasting his support for Trump while quietly trying to reassure people that he doesn't really back measures that will hurt his district.
The proof is in how he votes, and so far, his votes signal unwavering support for Trump.
It's fair to ask Rep. Hurd: Are you in Washington to represent your constituents, or are you there to do Donald Trump's bidding? Because you can't do both.
